I can't say the night in Ulm is one of the best in the world. But it's not so bad also.
To tell the truth, when compared to Niterói, the imediate options are more numerous and diversified. There are a few nice bars and clubs in the town but after one or two months it seems like you're always in the same places, doing the same things with the same people. Furthermore, most of the clubs are pretty much standard mainstream, playing hip hop, pop and stuff which is not so bad, but can be a little repetitive.
Fortunatelly there are a few a little more alternative options. The Olga Bar and Rosi (both situated a few minutes from my place) offer a cool environment with alternative, indie and classic rock and bear at a reasonable enough price to sit with your friends and have a nice conversation (or just stand up and talk screaming on the weekends).
There's also Eden, a pretty cool club with parties going from Rockabilly nights, indie, to Berlin electronic (like last friday with Okay & Okay which was pretty awesome!).
Also, last week they opened the Panda Bar. Neat! Bar/Lounge/Club with nice DJs, cheap drinks (and service for what it counts) and nice people. You can just sit around expecting some nice girl to come by or dance if you are drunk enough and have a nice group of friends with you.
